Associate Professor

Brief Introduction

Dr. Anand M Completed Masters and M. Phil degree in Environmental Sciences from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and acquired PhD under the faculty of Environmental Studies from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi. At present working as Associate Professor in the School of Environmental Studies, CUSAT, Kochi. The thrust area of research is on the development of appropriate technologies for the treatment/conversion of various organic wastes. In the course of the research work innovative in-vessel composting apparatus’s were developed with indigenous technology and obtained patent pending in India. The other areas of expertise are Environmental Biotechnology; bioremediation; water and waste water treatment and pollution control.

Experience

  • Nineteen years of Teaching and research experience in the field of Environmental     Science and Waste Management.

  • Worked as process manager in the department of Water and Waste Treatment,     Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was in-charge of a 10,000 MLD capacity     extended     aeration activated sludge treatment system at Al-Khobar, Saudi     Arabia during period     1997 – 2000. 

  • Member- core committee, constituted by SES and Cochin Corporation, to initiate an action plan on solid waste management in Kochi city.2015

  • Official reviewer for A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Youth Challenge Programme by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE). Government of Kerala, India, 2016.

  • Technical committee member Suchitwa Mission, Government of Kerala, 2016-2017.
