We are presently engaged in monitoring and mapping of microplastics in the environment. Developing new sampling and analytical methodologies for the measurement of MPs from all matrices. Study the toxicological and ecological effects of microplastics on different ecosystems. To work on the concepts to reduce inputs of plastics into the marine environment - through raising public awareness, new recycling methods, promoting behavioural change, socio-economic analyses etc. Our other research interests include pollution treatment technologies with focus on water, air and solid waste treatment, Restoration ecology and Conservation biology.
