Honoured Contribution: People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR), Kurumathur Panchayath

2025-10-05

Ms. Haritha is honoured to have contributed to the preparation of the People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) for Kurumathur Panchayath. As a dedicated researcher in the School of Environmental Studies, CUSAT,  she strongly believes in bridging scientific research with community participation and awareness.

Through extensive field surveys, species identification, and the exploration of unique ecological niches—particularly those thriving in barren rocky landscapes—she gained profound insights into the often-overlooked aspects of local biodiversity. The experience also highlighted the concerning spread of invasive species, emphasizing the urgent need for conservation action at the grassroots level.

This initiative reaffirmed her conviction that while academic research may take time to influence society, community-driven conservation efforts create both immediate and enduring impacts. Her involvement in this meaningful project stands as a testament to her commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable biodiversity management.
