AIR MATTERS: YOUTH SPEAK

Short Talk Competition under InKo Air Health 2026

As part of the InKo Air Health 2026 programme, the School of Environmental Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is organizing a short talk competition titled “AIR MATTERS: YOUTH SPEAK”, conducted alongside the SPARK Sponsored Symposium on Air Pollution and Human Health: Emerging Challenges.

The competition is open exclusively to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students and aims to inspire young scholars to critically examine India’s air quality challenges and propose research-based insights and innovative solutions. The event provides a platform for students to communicate scientific ideas concisely while engaging with experts in the field of air pollution and human health.

Competition Themes

Participants may choose topics related to any of the following themes:

  • Pollution Sources

  • Health Impacts of Air Pollution

  • Policy and Governance

  • Technological Innovations

  • Socio-Economic Factors

Presentation Format & Guidelines

  • 5-Minute Presentation:
    A “lightning talk” style presentation that is concise, impactful, and evidence-based.

  • 2-Minute Question & Answer Session:
    Participants will respond to questions from an expert panel following the presentation.

Awards and Recognition

  • First Prize: ₹5,000

  • Second Prize: ₹3,000

  • Third Prize: ₹2,000

All participants will receive Certificates of Participation.

How to Participate

  1. Register for the Symposium
    Participants must register for the SPARK Sponsored Symposium on Air Pollution and Human Health.

  2. Submit Abstract
    Upload the abstract using the prescribed template (available on the website) through the registration form.
    Abstract Submission Deadline: 15 January 2026

  3. Selection Process
    Abstracts will be reviewed by a committee, and selected participants will be informed via email.
