Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme in the School of Environmental Studies (SES), Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), in accordance with the Ph.D. Regulations and Admission Guidelines of CUSAT.

Areas of Research

Ph.D. programmes are offered in interdisciplinary areas of Environmental Studies, including but not limited to:

• Environmental Chemistry

• Environmental Biology & Ecology

• Environmental Pollution & Remediation

• Climate Change & Atmospheric Sciences

• Water Resources & Wetland Studies

• Environmental Toxicology

• Microplastics & Emerging Contaminants

• Space–Environment Interactions (where applicable)

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the eligibility conditions as prescribed by CUSAT Ph.D. Regulations, including:

• A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with minimum 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA).

• A 5% relaxation in marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST/SEBC/PwD categories as per Government of Kerala/UGC norms.

• Candidates must qualify the CUSAT Ph.D. Admission Test (DAT) unless exempted as per regulations (UGC-NET/JRF, CSIR-NET/JRF, GATE, DBT, ICMR, INSPIRE, etc.).

Application Procedure

• • Applicants seeking admission to the Ph.D.  are required to obtain the application forms from the office of  School of Environmental Studies by remitting the application fees and to submit their applications in offline mode to the same office. 
  • Candidates intending to pursue research in recognized research institutions shall submit their applications through the Head of the Institution to the Director of SES.

Application fee for Ph.D Programme is as follows

• • General Candidates: Rs. 1,500/-
  • SC/ST Candidates: Rs. 700/-

• Admission is strictly governed by CUSAT Ph.D. Regulations in force.

• Mere eligibility or qualification in DAT does not guarantee admission.
