The School of Environmental Studies at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) recently wrapped up an inspiring week dedicated to wildlife conservation, running from October 3 to 8. This year’s theme, “Innovation Meets Conservation: Protecting Wildlife in the Digital Era,” brought together students, faculty, and the community to highlight the critical intersection of technology and environmental stewardship.
Kicking off with an electrifying flash mob at the CUSAT Amenity Centre, the event quickly gained momentum, culminating in a vibrant celebration at Marine Drive, Kochi. These performances not only entertained but also raised awareness about the urgent need for wildlife conservation in our rapidly changing world.
Throughout the week, creativity flourished! From an online photography competition capturing the “Instances of Human-Animal Bond” to a thought-provoking documentary-making challenge on “Wildlife and The Global Climate Crisis,” participants showcased their talent and passion for our planet.
Workshops led by experts from the Kerala Forest Research Institute enriched our understanding of wildlife assessment and plant biodiversity. Dr. P. Balakrishnan and Dr. V.B. Sreekumar shared invaluable insights that empowered us to think critically about our role in conservation.
The celebrations culminated with a visit to St. Paul’s International School, sparking environmental awareness among young minds and ensuring that the message of wildlife conservation resonates with future generations.
Kudos to everyone involved in making Wildlife Week 2024 a remarkable success! Let’s continue to champion sustainable practices and protect our planet’s incredible biodiversity together. 🌏
